19. My longed-for, Yisra'el, upon your high places is pierced -
Ah, fallen the Mighty.
hatstsebîy yisrâ’êl ‘al-bâmôwthekhâ châlâl
’êykhâ nâphelôw gibbôwrîym
20. Do not declare it in Gath,
nor bear tidings into the street-markets of Ashqelon
lest they rejoice - the daughters of the Pelishtim
lest they exult - the daughters of the uncircumcised.

’al-tebasserôw bechûtsôwth ’ashqelôwn
pen-tismachenâh benôwth pelishtîym
pen-ta‘alôzenâh benôwth hâ‘arêlîym
21. Mountains of Gilboa‘ -
no rain nor dew upon you
or the high terraced fields -
for there was debased the shield of the Mighty
shield of Sha'ul no more anointed with oil.

22. From the blood of the pierced,
from the innards of the mighty
the bow of Yehonathan did not shrink back
and the sword of Sha'ul did not return empty.

23. Sha'ul and Yehonathan -
loved and lovely in your life
and in your death inseparable -
among eagles, swift,
among lions, strong.

24. Daughters of Yisra'el, for Sha'ul shed tears:
Your clothing scarlet with adornments
he set ornaments of gold upon your garments.

hamma‘aleh ‘adîy zâhâb ‘al lebûshekhen
25. Ah, fallen the Mighty in the midst of strife.
Yehonathan upon your high places is pierced -
’êykhâ nâphelôw gibbôwrîym bethôwkh hammilchâmâh
yehôwnâthân ‘al-bâmôwtheykhâ châlâl
26. distress to me concerning you my brother -
Yehonathan you were delightful to me:
deeply marvellous your love to me,
more than the love of wives.
