Hosea‘ 2:16-25 (Hebrew), 14-23 (English)

And so, see, I myself will be her seducer,
will lead her into the wordless place
and place words into her heart.
I will offer her her vineyards there
and the Valley of Strife to be an entrance to expectation,
and she will sing there as in the days of her girlhood
or as in the day she arose from the land of Egypt.

Now surely in that day
                        - this is the oracle of Yahweh -
you will call out to me, “my husband”,
and you will call out to me nevermore, “my Ba‘al”:
I shall peel away the names of the ba‘als from her mouth,
and they will be remembered nevermore by name.

I will cut with her a covenant in that day,
with the beasts of the field
with the birds of the skies
with the creeping creatures of the earth
        - bow and sword and strife I will tear apart from the land -
and they will settle themselves down in safety.

I will betroth you to myself for eternity,
and I will betroth you to myself
        - with righteousness and with justice
and with lovingkindness and with nurture -
I will betroth you to myself with faithfulness,
and you will know Yahweh.

Now surely in that day I shall sing
                        - this is the oracle of Yahweh -
            to the skies
and they shall sing to the land
and the earth shall sing
        - to the grain, and the new season’s wine, and the newly pressed oil -
and they shall sing to the seed sowing of God,
and I shall sow her for myself in the land.

I shall nurture her who has not been nurtured,
say to those who are not my people, “My people are you”,
and surely they will respond, “my God”.
