11. and they broke camp from Oboth,and encamped at ‘Iyyim of the ‘Abarim, in the wilderness which is facing Mo'ab, from the rising of the sun. wayyiçe‘û mê’ôbôth wayyachanû be‘îyyêy hâ‘abârîym bammidbar ’asher ‘al-penêy môw’âb mimmizerach hashshâmesh
12. From there they broke camp and encamped in the Wadi Zared. mishshâm nâçâ‘û wayyachanû benachal zâred
13. From there they broke camp and encamped in the region beside the Arnon, which is in the wilderness going out from the boundary of the Emoriy, for the Arnon was the boundary of Mo'ab, between Mo'ab and the Emoriy. mishshâm nâçâ‘û wayyachanû mê‘êber ’ârnôwn ’asher bammidbâr hayyôtsê’ miggebul hâ’emôrîy kîy ’arnôwn gebûl môw’âb bêyn môw’âb ûbêyn hâ’emôrîy
14. On this basis it is said in the Annals of the Wars of Yahweh

‘al kên yê’âmar beçêpher milchamôth YHVH

15. and the slopes of the wadis

and incline to the boundary of Mo'ab.
we’eshed hannechâlîym
asher nâtâh leshebeth ‘âr
wenishe‘an ligebûl môw’âb
16. And from there to Be'er: this is the well where Yahweh said to Mosheh, Gather the people and I will provide for them water ûmishshâm be’êrâh hiw’ habbe’êr ’asher ’âmar YHVH lemosheh ’eçôph ’hâ‘âm we’ettenâh lâhem mâyim
17. Then sang Yisra'el this song
Rise up, well,
All hymn to her,
’az yâshîyr yisrâ’êl ’eth-hâshshîyrâh hazzô’th
alîy be’êr
enû-lâh
18. the well
searched out by the chieftains
and dug by the princely among the people
with staff of office, with working staff.
Then from the wilderness, Mattanah,
be’êr
chaphârûâh sârîym
kârûâh nedîbêy hâ‘âm
bimechôqêq bemish‘anôthâm
ûmimmidbâr mattânâh
19. and from Mattanah, Nachaliy'el,
and from Nachaliy'el, Bamoth,
ûmimmatânâh nachalîy’êl
ûminnachalîy’êl bâmôwth
20. and from Bamoth, the valley which is in the open fields of Mo'ab,
the head of Piçgah, and the vantage point overlooking the wasteland.
ûmibbâmôwth haggaye’ ’asher bisedêh môw’âb rô’sh happiçgâh wenisheqâphâh ‘al-penêy hayeshîymôn
21. Then Yisra'el sent messengers to Çiychon king of the Emoriy, saying wayyishelach yisrâ’êl male’âkhîym ’el-çîychôn melekh-hâ’emôrîy lê’môr
22. Let me pass through your land. We will not turn aside into a field or vineyard, we will not drink water of a well: on the Way of the Kings we will walk until we have passed through your territory. ’e‘berâh be’aretsekhâ lô’ nitteh besâdeh ûbekherem lô’ nisheteh mêy be’êr bederekh hammelekh nêlêkh ‘ad ’asher-na‘abôr gebulekhâ
23. But Çiychon would not permit Yisra'el passage into his territory, and they gathered, Çiychon and all his people, and they set off to confront Yisra'el, into the wilderness, and they came to Yahets and waged war against Yisra'el. welô’-nâthan çîychôn ’eth-yisrâ’êl ‘abôr bigebulôw wayye’eçôph çîychôn ’eth-kol-‘ammôw wayyêtsê’ liqera’th yisrâ’êl hammidbârâh wayyâbô’ yâhetsâh wayyillâchem beyisrâ’êl
24. So Yisra'el struck them with the mouth of the sword and took possession of all his land, from the Arnon as far as Yabboq, as far as the children of Ammon, for at that time this was the boundary of the children of Ammon. wayyakkêhû yisrâ’êl lephî-châreb wayyîyrash ’eth-’aretsôw mê’arnôn ‘ad-yabbôq ‘ad-benêy ‘ammôwn kîy ‘az gebûl benêy ‘ammôwn
25. Then Yisrael took all these cities, and Yisra'el settled in all the cities of the Emoriy, in Cheshbon and all her daughter-settlements. wayyiqqach yisrâ’êl ’êth kol-he‘ârîm hâ’êlleh wayyêsheb yisrâ’êl bekol-‘ârêy hâ’emôrîy becheshbôwn ûbekhol-benôtheyhâ
26. For Cheshbon was the city of Çiychon, king of the Emoriy, and he had waged war against the former king of Mo'ab, and had taken all his cities from his hand, as far as Arnon. kîy cheshbôwn ‘îyr çîychôn melekh hâ’emôrîy hiw’ wehû’ nilcham bemelekh môw’âb hâri’shôwn wayyiqqach ’eth-kol-’aretsôw mîyyâdôw ‘ad-’arnôn
27. On this basis the proverbs say:
Go to Cheshbon, may it be built
and restored, the city of Çiychon
‘al-kên yô’merû hammôshelîym
bô’û cheshbôwn tibbâneh
wethikkôwnên ‘îyr çîychôn
28. For fire went out from Cheshbon
a flame from the settlement of Çiychon
It devoured ‘Ar of Mo'ab
the lords of the high places of Arnon
kîy-’esh yâts’âh mêcheshbôwn
lehâbâh miqqiryath çîychôn
’âkhelâh ‘âr môw’âb
ba‘alêy bâmôwth ’arnôn
29. Woe to you, Mo'ab
ruined are you, people of Kemosh:
He allowed his sons to be fugitives
and his daughters to be captives
because of the king of Emoriy - Çiychon.
’ôwy-lekhâ môw’âb
’âbadetâ ‘am-kemôwsh
nâthan bânâyw pelêytim
ûbenôthâyw bashshebîyth
lemelekh ’emôrîy çîychôwn
30. And we threw them down!
Ruined is Cheshbon as far as Diybon
and we ravaged as far as Nophach -
which is as far as Meydeba.

’âbad cheshbôwn ‘ad-dîybôn
wannashshîym ‘ad-nôphach
asher ‘ad-mêydebâ’
31. Thus settled Yisra'el in the cities of the Emoriy. wayyêsheb yisrâ’êl be’erets hâ’emôrˆy
