Psalm 27

1.

Psalm 27

Yahweh, my light and my salvation - who shall I fear?
Yahweh, home of my life - who shall I dread?

When wicked men press close against me
to consume my flesh -
adversaries and enemies of mine -
they stagger and then they will fall.
If an armed camp pitches against me
    my heart will not fear.
If conflict arises against me
in this I go on trusting.

One thing I asked when close to Yahweh -
this I will seek -
to be dwelling in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life,
to be gazing on the delightfulness of Yahweh,
and to be meditating in his temple.

For he secretes me in his shelter in the day of distress,
conceals me in the secrecy of his tent,
and onto a rock he lifts me up.
And then he will lift up my head
above my enemies all about me,
and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with joyful shouts:
I will sing and make music of praise to Yahweh.

Yahweh, hear my voice - I am calling -
and be kind and reply to me.
To you my heart has spoken: “Let me seek
your face, Yahweh!” - I am seeking -
do not hide your face from me,
do not thrust your servant aside in anger -
my helper you have been -
do not leave me and do not abandon me, God of my salvation.
If my father and my mother abandon me
then Yahweh will gather me in.

Yahweh, show me your way
and lead me onto an upright path
to answer those who pry on me.
Do not hand me over to the desire of my enemies,
for false witnesses had stood up against me, with violence snorting -
except that I trusted to glimpses of
the good things of Yahweh in the land of the living.

Look eagerly towards Yahweh:
be strong, and he will embolden your heart,
but look eagerly towards Yahweh.
