A wisdom song: a song of lovers.

‘al-shôshannîym libnêy-qôrach
maskîyl shîyr yedîydôth
2. Astir in my heart is a goodly word,
out-tell I my verses for the king,
my tongue a quill for a skilled scribe.
râchash libbîy dâbâr tôwb
’ômêr ’ânîy ma‘asay lemelekh
leshôwnîy ‘êt çôwphêr mâhîyr
3. Most handsome of the children of Adam
melted grace is on your lips -
for this are you blessed by Elohim always.
yâphyâphîythâ mibbenêy ’âdâm
hûtsaq chên besiphethôwtheykhâ
‘al-kên bêrakhekhâ ’elôhîym le‘ôwlâm
4. Strap sword at your side, O Mighty One -
your splendour and your majesty
chagôwr-charbekhâ ‘al-yârêkh gibbôwr
hôwdekhâ wahadârekhâ
5. and your majesty: advance! ride out! -
upon the word of faithfulness and the meekness of virtuous conduct -
and display astounding deeds with your right hand
wahadârekhâ tselach rekhab
‘al-debar-’emeth we‘anewâh-tsedeq
wethôwrekhâ nôwrâ’ôwth yemîynekhâ
6. Your fletched flights are sharpened -
your vassals will fall
on the heart of the foes of the king
chitstseykhâ shenûnîym
‘ammîym tacheteykhâ yippe
belêb ’ôwyebêy hammelekh
7. Your divine dignity is always and forever:
a staff of justice is the staff of your kingdom
kiç’akhâ ’elôhîym ‘ôwlâm wâ‘ed
shêbet mîyshôr shêbet malkhûthekhâ
8. You love right conduct and hate wickedness:
for this are you anointed by Elohim your God,
with oil of joy above your companions
’âhabetâ tsedeq wattisenâ’ resha‘
‘al-kên meshâchakhâ ’elôhîym ’elôheykhâ
shemen sâsôwn mêchabêrekhâ
9. Myrrh and aloes, cassia all your raiment,
from courts of ivory my harp strings gladden you.
môr-wa’ahâlôwth qetsîy‘ôwth kol-bigedôthêykhâ
min-heykelêy shên minnîy simmechûkhâ
10. daughters of kings are your sweet consorts
attending the royal concubine at your right hand in gold of Ophiyr.
benôwth melâkhîym bîyqqerôwtheykhâ
nitstsebâh shêgal lîymîynekhâ bekhethem ’ôwphîyr
11. Hear me, O daughter, and take note, and incline your ear,
and forget your people and the house of your father.
shime‘îy-bath ûre’îy wehattîy ’âzenêkh
weshikhechîy ‘ammêkh ûbêyth ’âbîykh
12. Now you are desired by the king for your loveliness:
he indeed is your master, so bow down now to him.

kîy-hû’ ’adônayikh wehishtachawîy-lôw
13. The daughter of Tsor with tribute
your presence desires with the wealthy of the people.
ûbath-tsôr beminechâh
pânayikh yechallû ‘ashîyrêy ‘am
14. All glorious is the daughter of the king within
of plaited gold her garment
kol-kebûdâh bath-melekh penîymâh
mimmishbetsôwth zâhâb lebûshâh
15. in brocade she is brought to the king.
Maids follow her as companions -
they make entrance for you -
lireqâmôwth tûbal lammelekh
bethûlôwth ’achareyhâ rê‘ôwtheyhâ
mûbâ’ôwth lâkh
16. they are brought in to her in delight and excitement:
they come to the court of the king.
tûbalenâh bisemâchôwth wâgîyl
tebô’eynâh behêykol melekh
17. After your fathers there will be your sons -
you will set them as princes in all of the land.
tachath ’abôtheykhâ yiheyû bâneykhâ
teshîythêmôw lesârîym bekol-hâ’ârets
18. I will make known your name ever - generation after generation -
for this the peoples will praise you always and forever.
’azekîyrâh shimekhâ bekol-dôr wâdôr
‘al-kên ‘ammîym yehôwdûkhâ le‘ôlâm wâ‘ed
